Issue: 2.2 8-14-2017: Fall Preview

 Volume: 6 Issue: 2.2 – August 13, 2017  – Fall Preview

North Jersey Running Enthusiasts, welcome to the 2017 Fall Preview Edition of What’s on track for North Jersey. It has been an incredibly busy time for those that contribute to this newsletter so we’d first like apologize for the long pause. We will provide this preview and possibly one more edition before closing our 2017. Come 2018 this newsletter will take on an entirely new look and feel and more of a national focus. What’s on Track! Powered by Run America will make its debut in late January 2018.

That said, the Fall is starting to shape up nicely in Northern NJ and with it, two very special events rise right to the top of our “must run” list. The infamous Apple Chase, now a 5K and 12K has been reset in Pequannock/Pompton Plains hosted at Greenview Park. The 5K will now run the notorious Run for Marge course while the 12K will extend the 5K course to Rt 23 and back. Both courses are super flat, fast and PR ready.

The event, having been on a two-year hiatus, is being brought back by its original organizers. The Chilton Medical Center and SPA23 are back where they started and from what has been discussed the Apple Chase is back for good. Be sure to mark your calendar and secure your place at the starting line by clicking the banner above and registering for this Northern NJ staple.

The New Racefaster 1/2 Marathon & 5K makes its debut this September 10th at the Garden State Plaza. This HALF Marathon is an absolute treat! Starting and finishing at the Garden State Plaza the HALF spends approximately 85% of YOUR time on the Saddle River Park Pathway (SRP). Anyone that runs in Bergen County knows how awesome and relatively flat the SRP pathway is. Runners will enter the SRP at the North end of the Rochelle Park area. The HALF traverses the pathway for roughly 5 miles before entering the oval within the Glen Rock parking area. The course then returns due South around the end of the Rochelle Park area (cutting across Railroad Ave) before heading back to the Garden State Plaza.

Don’t miss your chance to be part of this inaugural history making event. It will be a run like no other and definitely one for the record books! Thos interested in joining in and/or learning more about the HALF should visit the Racefaster Half Marathon event website.

The Run America app is your one stop for everything “running”. Here you can refine, register and record (coming late 2017) your events. Every walk, run, across all known terrains, from sea to shining sea, is destined for Run America. Run America is presently working to integrate all multisport and variety runs too! The idea behind RunAmerica is simple. Provide an app that can filter through all known events, provided a strong profile of preferences, to find the event that you want when and how you want it. The current version of Run America brings together all the events from RunSignUp, Active and Race Entry into a single interface. Runners be sure to check out the app now so you know when its time to run. Race Directors be sure to look into the Run America FREE BIB program now that Road ID has started to charge for their bibs!!!

If Linkedin is your thing have we got a Group for you! Closing in on one thousand (1000) members the Race Director & Event Promoters Group is the place to discuss anything you need to know about “managing” a run, walk, multisport or variety event!
